Quick start with Docker

If you already have Docker, you try TeselaDB in a container without installing any other program.

You will start TeselaDB in a Docker container and connect to it from your machine. It is the shortest way to try it if you already have Docker.

What you will get

A node in a container, with the data in a volume and the client port open on your machine. It takes about five minutes.

Before you begin

You need Docker and mongosh. The viuzi/teseladb:latest image always carries the newest release in Download.

Step 1. Start the container

Shell
docker run -d --name teseladb -p 27017:27017 -v teseladb-data:/data \
  viuzi/teseladb:latest start --dbpath /data --insecure --insecure-allow-remote --bind_ip 0.0.0.0

With --insecure the node starts without TLS or users, and --insecure-allow-remote lets it listen outside 127.0.0.1 so the container port reaches your machine. This mode is only for trying it locally.

Step 2. Connect

Shell
mongosh "mongodb://127.0.0.1:27017/"

Check that it works

Connect with mongosh and run db.runCommand({ ping: 1 }). If the node is serving, the answer is { ok: 1 }, the same one a MongoDB server gives.

Clean up

Shell
docker stop teseladb
docker rm teseladb

The teseladb-data volume keeps the data; delete it with docker volume if you no longer want it.
